during the final day of five consecutive pool
play matches during the Eighth Women’s Pan

BankUnited Center.
Peru finishes Pool A in third place with a 3-2

place on July 4.

captain Leyla Chihuan added 12 points. Yulissa
Zamudio charted 11 points in the victory.
Maria A. Estrada Santizo paced Guatemala with
nine points, while Susana Alvarado Gomez chipped

Peru’s service caused trouble with Guatemala’s

advantage. Peru also scored 30-kill margin
(51-21).
“Peru played liked we knew they could do today,”
Peru Assistant Coach Natalia Malaga Dibos said.
“These games are for preparation for the future
and have to keep working hard. We had the
opportunity to play our young players, and
although we had some technical problems, we are
happy with the results.”
“We played a lot of new players who had not
played at this level,” Guatemala captain
Aneliesse Burmester said. “I noticed they were
nervous at the beginning, but they began to play
better as the match went on. That was the
objective – giving them playing time and match
experience.”
